FIVE ROOKIES AND STILL COUNTING.....
It needs correcting that Jay Austin will be out in a car hired from Race Car Direct - UK and not that he owns the car.  He will be racing under the number he used in National Hot Rods #427.
Mark Carnwell, as previously reported, will join Legends this year and has bought Pete Amas's car - a 1937 Chevy Sedan.  Mark hails from Liverpool and will race with the number 46.
New to the rookie ranks this year, will also be Barry Barnard from Harpenden.  He recently bought the Derek Hales 2010 car.
It was recently reported that Tom Sutton from Boston has joined the formula.  He will race with the number 495 in the ex Jeff Marshall 1934 Ford Sedan.  The fifth rookie to join this year so far is John Durrant, also racing in a car from Race Car Direct.

More news on the driver front is that 2010 National Points Champion, Mike Walmsley (182) is leaving the formula and will fully commit to 2.0 litre Hot Rods in 2011.  He may race the Legends car if dates do not clash and the car is still sitting in the garage.

PHOTOS FROM THE AUTOSPORT INTERNATIONAL SHOW HELD LAST WEEKEND AT THE NEC BIRMINGHAM.
OVAL TRACK LEGENDS WERE WELL REPRESENTED BY RACE CAR DIRECT UK AGAIN THIS YEAR.  THE SHOW STAND ATTRACTED A LOT OF VISITORS WHICH DISPLAYED THE CARS OF JOHN TOWNSHEND (42) IN A NEW INCARACE LIVERY, BRANSON POYNER (5) THE CURRENT BRITISH CHAMPION, DARREN SMITH (76) AS EVER - LOOKED VERY SMART INDEED, AS DID THE CAR OF ROB PREECE (37).
JASON WORRALL (79) TOOK TIME OUT FROM HIS VISIT TO THE SHOW FOR AN INTERVIEW ON THE OVAL RACING STAGE WITH NICK KNOWLES.  THEY SPOKE OF JASON'S EXPERIENCE AND HIS VIEWS ON THE FORMULA.  HE WAS  UNDERSTANDABLY A LITTLE NERVOUS TO DO IT BUT HATS OFF TO HIM FOR GETTING UP THERE AND GIVING IT A GO! Thanks Jason - you did great mate!

MORE NEWS FROM A FEW MORE DRIVERS NEXT ... BUT FIRST, TWO MORE NEW NAMES IN OVAL TRACK LEGENDS THIS YEAR.  Jay Austin, former National Hot Rod driver has been testing in the ex-RCD car he now owns and Mark Carnwell joins Jay in the rookie ranks, he will race the number 46.
Karl Monnery (23) will more or less be ready for 2011.  He knows the car is in the garage somewhere!  He isn't joking - take a look at the photos on the DIVERSE page!  Pete Amas (33) has replaced his '37 Chevy Sedan with Dean Thompson's '37 Ford Sedan.  John Townshend's (42) car was seen at the Autosport International Show earlier this month, complete in Incarace livery.  Word has come through from John Hudson (65) that he plans on racing a full season this year but still needs to get some work done on the bent chassis.  Darren Smith (76) has his car fresh out of the Autosport show and will go testing at Birmingham Wheels with a few others at the end of February.  Jason Worrall (79) was interviewed at the show as one of the up and coming young drivers and, with the bit of experience he has now, is looking forward to getting back out there!
IT JUST REMAINS TO BE SEEN NOW, HOW ALL THE DRIVERS FAIR IN THE NEW SEASON.  IT LOOKS SET TO BE A CRACKING YEAR THOUGH.  OVAL TRACK LEGENDS MAY WELL REACH THE BIG 50 - DRIVER BASE WISE.

DES DOES THE DLRAA HEROES RUN
On the same day the Legends were racing at Yarmouth, Des Chandler was in Loughborough to take part in the 5 mile Heroes Run organised by the DLRAA.  He, along with his daughter and grand daughter raised a superb £536.90.
''Many thanks to everyone for their contribution, from friends and both of my daughters workplaces.  I personally intend to make up the amount to £600 and send off to the DLRAA very soon.'' says Des.

be Jon Evans (11), Stef Lloyd (21), Derek Linley (32), Dan Holden (161), Barry Randall
(395) or Phil Moore (465) depending on the outcome of racing at Ipswich the previous

centre on Angel Hill and will be raising money for the East Anglian Air Ambulance.
The show starts at 10am and is organised to bring together and showcase competitors
and their cars from the many categories of 4 wheeled motorsport across the area.
The photo (right) is a 'flashback' to the show last year with Tech Inspector Barry

Here's a quick round-up of all the news (so far) from the Legends drivers on the up and coming season, which is all set to be the best yet!                                                   In race number order, the news is that:-
#2 RICHARD STAGG has the chassis all rubbed down and the bodywork is being repainted fresh for 2011.  #5 BRANSON POYNER will have his car still fresh from being on display at the MPH Show back in November, 2010 to having it on the Race Car Direct stand at the Autosport Show, NEC Birmingham on 15th & 16th January.  #7 TREVOR JAMES will be back out this year having taken a year out in 2010.  #8 DEREK HALES maybe out to race in only a few of the rounds.  #11 JON EVANS will be hoping to do more meetings than last year.  #15 PAUL BULLOCK won't be racing for the time being due to heavy work commitments but will possibly return to racing at some point with a brand new car.  #16 NATHAN NICHOLLS has gone to pastures new and will be racing in the MASCAR season.  #19 DEAN THOMPSON still has his car up for sale and will alas not be racing in 2011.  #21 STEF LLOYD has his car all stripped and has rebuilt the chassis while the shell is being painted with a slight colour scheme change.  #22 ROBIE JUKES plans to do only a few rounds this year.  #29 KEV KETTLEWELL may well join the Scottish Legends.  #35 STU BLYTH is selling his car and will probably switch formula.  #37 ROB PREECE will sport a new colour scheme in 2011 and will have the car on display with Race Car Direct at the Autosport International Show in January.  #42 JOHN TOWNSHEND is just putting the finishing touches on his car which is due to also be on display at the AIS.  #48 DAN HUGHES is up for a full year of racing if college and work will allow.  He is especially concerntrating on the British and National Championship after his strong performance at last years National.  #52 MARTIN LAMB will keep the same colours and has already stripped and rebuilt the car.  #55 ANDY HARTWELL has had second thoughts and will not be selling his car, he will be coming back in 2011.  #57 IAIN HOOKER won't be racing but may well return at some point in the future having enjoyed racing in 2010.  #64 TIM HUDSON plans a full season unless he has another unplanned roll over!  #100 RUSS BULL has left Legends and sold the car to an ex-Super Rod driver.  Tom Sutton from Boston Lincolnshire is the proud owner of Jeff Marshall's 1934 Ford Sedan and will trying to get the race number 100 when he re-licences.  So far, Tom has just about got the chassis rebuilt.  #105 KEV HUGHES or #52 and a half, as Kev often refers to the car as it is still in several pieces, will have to miss competing in 2011 due to the fact he faces surgery on his shoulder but will be available as a 'roving' mechanic at most meetings if anyone needs him.  #151 CHRIS PYE is all raring to go after sealing a sponsorship deal with Steward Transport.  #156 PETER 'GORGEOUS' BLUNDELL is as keen as mustard to get back out there and really work on that illusive big championship win - look out Mr. Hales Jnr! :-).  #161 DAN 'GOLDEN' HOLDEN is also keen to lay challenge to the major championships and will be out with a new colour scheme.  #326 JOHNNY HALL still has his car up for sale but will probably race it if it's still sat there.  #395 BAZ 'REVVER' RANDALL is going to make his machine rev by fitting a self-built FJ1200 engine and has put on a new front clip.  #465 PHIL MOORE has given his car a general tidy up and hopes to compete in a full year.
THAT'S ABOUT IT FOR THE TIME BEING. IF ANYMORE NEWS COMES THROUGH, IT WILL ADDED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
DON'T FORGET - IF YOU HAVE ANY NEWS, THEN BY ALL MEANS CONTACT PEGGYANN LILLEY Thankyou :-D
